Best Moisturizer Ever?

I’m going to be raving about this product non-stop, so let me start by saying this is not sponsored (although I wish it was).
Shoutout to the girl at Sephora who suggested OleHenriksen to me because their products are amazing!!! Now I think I’ve gone through at least about 8 bottles of the Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer, and probably will continue to do so for the rest of my life. Here’s why…

    I’ve tried different creams in between just to make sure I’m not missing out on anything better, but honestly it just makes me realize how much better this one is. When you find something this good it’s hard to let go. It is a little pricey, but a little goes a long way (the 50mL bottle lasts me at least 4-5 months).

Beach Bag Essentials

Summer has officially arrived, which can only mean on thing: BRING ON THE BEACH!!! There is no better feeling than sand on your toes, wind in your hair, and the sun on your skin and if you disagree then we can’t be friends. Being a beach fanatic and all around expert, I thought I’d make a what’s in my beach bag list for you guys.

1. Sunscreen
The most obvious and important item on the list. Although I don’t put sunscreen all over my body I do put it on the spots I know will burn: shoulders, knees, feet and most importantly FACE!!!
*Fact of the day: the number of SPF means how long it would take for the sun radiation to redden your skin – so if you’re using SPF 30 it would take 30 times longer than if you were wearing no sunscreen.
Also the new spray bottles are my favourite, much easier and cleaner application!

2. Oil
Now this is for the people who don’t burn really easily or already have a base tan. I use the Hawaiian Tropic bronzing oil all over my body and it really makes my tan develop a lot faster.

3. Beach Blanket/Towel
If you plan on getting wet, take a beach blanket with you so you can use your towel to dry off. You can also use the towel as a pillow to take an afternoon nap (mmm naps).

4. A Portable Speaker
What’s the point of being at the beach without your summer playlist to listen to? There are also waterproof speakers available if you want to take it into the water with you.

5. Lip Balm with SPF
Most people tend to forget their lips when protecting their skin. Our lips are made up of a very thin layer of skin and therefore much more prone to sun damage.

6. Hat
Sun damage on your face means wrinkles, and nobodyyy wants that. Face sunscreen is good but not enough, keep permanent shade on your face with a hat – plus you won’t die of heat as fast when your face and head are covered!

7. Sunnies
Another obvious one – but make sure to find a pair of sunglasses that protect against UVB rays, you can even find inexpensive versions. Another factor to consider is polarized sunglasses, which cut off all the glare from the sun and make the lenses more clear.

8. Headphones
For when you wanna take your afternoon nap and everyone else is being super loud. Just put them in a small baggie so they don’t get water or sand in them.

9. Waterproof Phone Pouch
If you’re planning on going into the water and don’t wanna leave your phone, buy one of these pouches and you can hang it around your neck worry free. I got mine off of Amazon!!

10. A Good Book
I can’t think of anything more relaxing than reading a good book while laying by the water, might just be my favourite thing to do. If you’re not much of a book person – magazines are always a good substitute.

One last tip.. if you can try to stay off your phone and enjoy your surroundings. The beach has a way of clearing our heads and bringing peace. Instagram and snapchat will always be there!

10 Best Spots in LA

After recently having gone to LA for the first time, I finally understand the hype. And let me tell you it is NOT underrated. I hope the people that live there appreciate how good they have it, cause it is truly the perfect place to live (seriously like palm trees everywhere). So I thought I’d make a list of the places I loved and you must see for your first time in LA.

1. Sunset Blvd
If you want to enjoy the city and nightlife, I suggest staying at a hotel on Sunset Blvd. The location is so lively and within walking distance of the best West Hollywood spots. I stayed at the Mondrian, which had great service, surprisingly spacious rooms, and an amazing pool. Even if you don’t book a room there, you can pop by the pool during the day – or checkout the Sky Bar at night, which is a VIBE.

2. Santa Monica
If you’re going to LA, to relax and chill by the beach then this is the place to be. Surrounded by the ocean and soft sand, just typing about it gets me in my feelings. You need to spend at least one day here, there’s so much to do. An insanely nice outdoor shopping mall called Third Street Promenade, that includes shops from Louis Vuitton to Forever 21. Not to mention some amazing restaurants (the patios are on another level). And obviously can’t forget Santa Monica Pier – like really who doesn’t love a good carnival?

3. Venice Beach
What use to be considered the poor district of LA has now become the hippest spot in the city. Known for its boardwalk and street performances, this has got to be the most entertaining beach you’ll ever come across. With the eclectic characters of muscle beach and dancers of all sorts, you will be skipping from crowd to crowd snapchatting the whole thing. If you have extra time, rent a bike for the whole experience.

4. Abbot Kinney Boulevard
Located right by Venice Beach, this is the coolest fashion hub in LA at the moment. With high end boutiques such as Rag and Bone, while also featuring local designers and cute little jewellery stands, among so many other things. Salt and Straw ice cream shop is a must try – though be prepared for an out-the-door lineup.

5.  Rodeo Drive
Ok this is an obvious one but had to be included. Even if you’re not planning on spending dolla dolla bills you gotta see Rodeo in all its glory. With expensive cars parked all the way along the street and lots of celeb sightings if you’re paying attention, just window shopping alone is worth it.

6. Manhattan Beach
If you prefer a less touristy area then hit up Manhattan Beach. You’re still getting miles of sand and oceans but in a more relaxing way. Plus the shops and restaurants look like they’re straight out of a dream. Make sure to walk up the pier to see the local seals (the animal – not the navy) just chillin’ out on the rocks.

9. Ivory on Sunset
This is the restaurant located at the Mondrian. First of all the aesthetic is A1, secondly you get a view of basically all of WeHo. Lastly, go for brunch and trust the breakfast burrito (thank me later).

10.  Sur
For all the Vanderpump Rules fans out there, this one is a MUST. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the service is great. Plus you’re bound to see one or two members of the cast. I even got to get a picture with Lisa, who was the sweetest!!

Spring ’18 Trends

I can’t believe I finally get to write a post about spring because it feels like winter was 84 years long (and still counting). I don’t know about you but I like to start my spring shopping early, which means I have way too many clothes with tags on them, that I can’t wear for at least another 3 months. Like the free healthcare is great and stuff, but Canada reaaaally needs to work on its weather.
The SS18 runways were nothing short of bold and bright so time to put away the black. Here are the top 5 trends going into the new season and the best ways to style them!

1. 80’s inspired 
The decade of inspiration has now shifted to the 80’s, with high waisted baggy fitting jeans, and dramatic shoulders but still cropped at the waist. White booties are still going strong into spring as well. If your parents still have some clothes from this era, I would highly suggest rummaging through it, you’d be surprised how many of those pieces are in style right now.

2. Trench Coats
No longer are trench coats only a part of a lawyer’s wardrobe, but they have officially become a fashion statement. It can be worn as a dress on its own, classic office attire, or apparently even over a swimsuit. I’m here for it.

3. Sneakers

Last year we witnessed the rise of sneakers and this year the trend has only elevated. Its gone from a sleek tennis shoe (think Gucci) to the chunkier the better (think Balenciaga). It is a hard look to pull off if you’re not to street wear, so if you want a less expensive/more wearable option the Nike AirMax 95’s are a classic.

4. Suits
The Hilary Clinton influence is still going strong, women in suits is a POWER LOOK and you better werk it hunny. I mean dresses are cute and all, but opting for a well tailored suit will make you feel like nothing can stop you. If you find the look too business-like, you can go for the blazer dress option – which is still fashion forward but a touch more feminine.

5. The belt bag
aka the fanny pack. Playing on the sporty trend, you’ll see these bags all over social media. Personally, I wouldn’t invest in a designer bag like this because it’s just too trendy and not a investment type of bag. But you can’t deny it has a cool girl vibe to it, especially with the right outfit.

March in Canada is still cold AF, the wait for spring feels never ending. The only way to make this month bearable is buying cute spring clothes to have something to look forward to wearing, am I right or am I right?

I recently ordered this jacket from I.AM.GIA the label, which you may have seen some celebs rocking. I saw Morgan Stewart wearing it so like everything else she wears I was like ‘K gotta have it’. I wasn’t expecting it to be as oversized as it, but it really grew on me and plus it’s actually so warm and cozy! I’m wearing the smallest size which is an XS, but I recommend sizing down. My jeans are by Mother in the style Tomcat, which is a straight leg fit, and you must 100% size up in this style. All my other Mother jeans fit true to size but these are super tight around the waistband. Link to everything below! xx

Top 5 Uses for Activated Charcoal Powder

You’ve probably seen tons of influencers on social media using charcoal powder for a variety of reasons. I’m gonna tell you all the benefits and the different ways to use it.

What is Activated Charcoal Powder?
It is a powder form of coal that has a lot of positive effects on our bodies. It is commonly used to rid our immune systems of toxins or poisons. Since it is a pure and natural substance, it is a healthier alternative to other products that are chemically produced. I use the one by Organika, which they were kind enough to send to me – check it out here.

Ways to use it
1. Face Mask: Take 1tsp of honey, 1tsp charcoal, a few drops of water. Mix mix mix. Then apply it to your face (avoiding eye area). Leave it on for 10 mins or longer. Rinse off with warm water. Treats acne and dark spots.
*you can just mix it with water, but I tried it this way the first time and did not like the consistency of the mask + it was a lot harder to wash it all off. The second time I added the honey and not only was the application a lot smoother but washing it off was also a breeze.
2. Teeth Whitener: Mix 1tsp with a few drops of water to create a paste. Brush teeth for 1-2 mins. Rinse. Brush again with your regular toothpaste. For best results do this 3 times week. It works to whiten teeth by attacking plaque and teeth stains, it’s much more cost effective and natural compared to something like branded teeth whitening strips.
3. Alleviates Gas and Bloating
Another use that is often overlooked, it helps prevent or get rid of gas and bloating.
Just mix 1tsp with a glass of water, and then drink a regular glass of water right after for every glass of charcoal water you consume.
4. Treats Hangovers and Alcohol Poisoning
The powder helps to quickly absorb toxins in your body that contribute to poisoning. Take the same steps as #3
5. Digestive Cleanse
Another reason to drink activated charcoal is if you simply want to cleanse your body of toxins that cause allergies, tiredness, weak immune system, high cholesterol, among many other health concerns. Basically it benefits everyone, and harms no one.

Why You Need to get a HydraFacial

Now there’s facials.. and then there is HydraFacials. They are basically the Beyonce of facials. I’d been seeing them all over the internet lately, and decided to see what all the hype was about it and whether it’s really worth it. I went to Starlight MedSpa (check out their website here), since I had heard a lot of good things about them. Kaye, who was my aesthetician, was so knowledgable that she picked up on all my skin problems just from a glance. She gave me all the facts and I’m about to share them with you guys!

What is a HydraFacial?
In simple terms it is a new technology that is meant for skin-resurfacing without having to laser. It combines cleansing, exfoliating, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection, leaving your skin smoother and clearer almost instantly. It works to improve the appearance of congestion, fine lines, enlarged pores, acne and hyper-pigmentation. No matter what your skin issues are, HydraFacial addresses all of them and it works for any skin type.

Why you need it.
First off, before the facial even starts you get to learn about your skin type. Kaye measured the amount of hydration in my skin which was 24%, the ideal number is 40%. That right there tells me I’m not drinking enough of water.. (is ittoo late to add a new years resolution?). Then she informed me that I have broken capillaries in my skin which are caused by the sun and tanning. So pretty much no more tanning beds (ever), and sunscreen is essential every single day. Another really important point she stressed was to constantly exfoliate your skin, now whether you do it daily or a few times a week really depends on the sensitivity of your skin. This is what will get rid of all the dead skin cells, and give your face that smooth glowing look. We went over my skincare routine and the products that I use to decide whether they are doing more harm than good. For the most part they were okay – but now I have a better sense of what ingredients to look for in a product.

Now a HydraFacial will do all of the above, but in a much more intense way that our hands could never do. Even if you just do it one time to give your skin a deep clean, and then use products to maintain it, it’ll make a big difference. It’s only been a few hours since I did mine and I’ve already noticed; smaller pores, brightness, less redness, super smooth to the touch. At the end of my facial my skin was at 41% moisture level, which means it increased the hydration level of my skin by 17%. Plus your skin apparently looks the best 2-3 days after the facial!! Seriously if I knew it was this relaxing and effective I would’ve done it a long time ago!
And for the last part, they give you complementary Red Light Therapy; a skin rejuvenation treatment that increases collagen in the skin which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, decreases acne, and results in all around firmer looking skin. Workout Wear Essentials


As you can tell I’m very much into fitness and working out…….. just kidding I hate it but I force myself to go anyways. My trick is that I like it to use clothes as motivation to actually get up and go to the gym. If I have cute workout clothes then I have an excuse to workout, sounds kind of pathetic now that I’m acknowledging it -_-
I’ve tried a lot of different brands and styles as a result, and I’ve realized it’s definitely quality over quantity. So I thought I’d share with guys my go to pieces and how to snag the best deals.

This is the most important piece of clothing when you are exercising, as your legs are doing the most work. So if you’re not comfortable you’re not gonna have a good workout. I’ve tried a lot of different brands of leggings, in all price ranges, and by far without a doubt Lululemon makes the best/softest/most comfortable/breathable ones of all time. They’re a bit pricey, but they will last you forever AND they don’t lose their shape or stretch out, which is so important!!!  What I noticed about cheap leggings is the material is awful because 1. they’re not breathable so when you sweat your skin feels like its itchy and burning 2. the fabric feels very plastic-y and constricting 3. they lose their shape over time. So do yourself a favour and invest in a clean black Lululemon legging because it is a staple. You can look at them here. 

Running Shoes
For the longest time I always wore the traditional Nike or Adidas shoes for any type of physical activity, which are classics and a great option. Until I bought myself a pair of APL’s… which stands for Athletic Propulsion Labs, founded by twin brothers with a mission to create a sneaker combining technology, performance and fashion. I noticed a lot of celebs wearing them, as well as the Kardashians always raving about them, I decided to invest in a pair.
The shoes are made of a very soft stretchy cashmere material and they slide on like a sock. The fabric is quick-drying and breathable so you’re feet do not sweat at all. The cushion in the sole makes the ultra comfortable, so you can train or run in them for a long time without getting sore feet. My favourite part of the shoe is the style, they’re very sleek and come in so many different colours and styles. I started out with a neutral colour for my first one… but defintely got my eyes on the pink one next. They also have created a variety of models depending on the type of sport you want them for, whether it’s just training, running, or sports, the technology of the shoes vary.

Now this is the part where you can save some money and not splurge. Because you’re sweating and constantly re-wearing workout tops, it’s better to find inexpensive styles, that why you can recycle them once they’re worn out. In terms of brands, I like to check out the Nike or Adidas outlets cause they always have great deals, or their online sales tend to have great discounts as well. Also, Forever21 makes some really cute and cheap activewear (I would stay away from the leggings though). In terms of sports bras, I only have a couple I always use, and those are by Nike, although I do use ones without cups or padding, I find the the padded ones provide more comfort and durability.

Best Restaurants in Toronto

If you’re from the 6 like me, then you know nobody here actually calls it the 6 lol, cause that would be kinda weird. You might also know that there is not much to do here. And by not much I mean literally nothing ever at all. Especially when it’s winter and going outside means potentially dying from hypothermia. But then there are the odd days, where you are so tired of only going to work and watching netflix (basically living like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day), that you are willing to suffer through the cold wind that burns your face just to get out the house. Sooo I thought I’d make a list of all my favourite spots to eat in the city, in case you are just as winter depressed as I am and need food to make life just a little easier.

  1. Cactus Club
    Probably my favourite restaurant in the city, as it excels in every aspect. Amazing food, great music, cool crowd, not to mention the BEST drinks (the Brazilian is my go to)!!
  2. King Taps
    A newer spot, located in the same building as Cactus with the same sort of vibe. The pizza is a must.
  3. Nervosa
    No doubt the best food in Yorkville. It’s one of the more quaint spots, and in the summer the rooftop patio + sangria is the perfect combination. Try the mushroom pasta or steak with salad.
  4. Sassafraz
    Another yorkville spot, this one has a really great brunch menu that includes a huge stack of blueberry pancakes and this to die for mushroom and brie toast.. can you tell I like mushrooms?
  5. Wish
    More of a daytime vibe, the interior of this place is so rustic and adorable, that the food being good is just a bonus. The french toast will leave you speechless.
  6. Chop
    An amazing steakhouse with locations in the GTA. This is good place for when you want a delicious steak without paying an arm and a leg for it. The burger is also delicious.

    The King St. location has a great menu, consisting of many things you’ve probably never heard before. If you aren’t a big foodie, the pizza is really good!
  8. Lee
    One of the better asian fusion restaurants. Really cool vibe inside with great music. You have to order the slaw salad and spring roll burgers!!
  9. Morocco Chocolat
    This is one of my favourites for sure. It has a really good variety in deserts as well as good, depending on what you’re in the mood for. I always go for the tea and macaroons… obviously

REVIEW: Amika Triple Rx Hair Mask


Studies show that 9 out 10 women have damaged hair. I just made that statistic up but I feel like it’s probably true. Most of us have a harmful hair routine; whether you dye, highlight, straighten or curl your hair on a regular basis, it’s not healthy!!! I literally do all of those things all the time so you can just imagine how damaged my hair is. The obvious way to treat this is by getting hair cuts pretty often, but most hairstylists can’t be trusted. How do they translate “I want just a little trim” into “just shave my head Karen” LOL. If you don’t want to take that risk, I suggest trying hair masks! I’m surprised at how underrated they are, or maybe I’m just new to them. I’ve been using the Amika Triple Rx Mask for a few months now and I looove it for so many reasons.

First of all, it smells freakin’ amazing. If you’ve ever smelt the Viva La Juicy perfume, that’s basically what it smells like. That was my go-to scent in high school so using the mask makes me feel all nostalgic.
Secondly, it makes your feel like a softness you’ve never felt before. I’m trying to think of something to compare the softness to but I can’t. You’ll have to see for yourself.
Also, the shine THE SHINE!!!!! I’ve gotten so many compliments on the shininess of my hair since I started using it. And it’s not like a oily type of a shine, it’s like a Jennifer Aniston type of shine.
